Position: Administrator (with progression to a Buyer position)

Salary: £27,000 to £30,000 depending on experience + generous Pension, Private Medical Insurance

Full time, on-site: Normal working pattern is Monday to Friday – 40 hours a week

What they do:

Major Talent are looking for an Administrator to join an established and growing Electrical Power company based in Watford. This is a brand new role for the company, due to growth, and as an Administrator, you will mainly be purchasing electrical components and tools for the business. The successful candidate will ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality purchases to support our operations and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure electrical equipment and components according to project and operational specifications.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms.
  • Issue purchase orders and track delivery schedules to ensure timely arrivals.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, invoices, and other relevant documentation.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, and project teams to define equipment needs.
  • Evaluate and maintain supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in budgeting, cost analysis, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Handle administrative duties such as filing, reporting and data entry.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in purchasing, procurement or administration, ideally in an electrical or technical environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment, components and suppliers is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, supply chain management, or a technical field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a similar role.
